Scoreboard: Madison Girls Basketball Wins Fourth Straight Road Game

Marshall boys swim defeats Thomas Jefferson, Madison boys basketball falls to McLean

The Madison Girls Basketball team won its fourth consecutive road game Friday night, beating the McLean Highlanders, 58-42.

Trailing 15-13 after the first quarter, Madison clamped down on defense to take a narrow 22-19 lead at halftime. The Warhawks found their offensive groove in the third quarter, outscoring the Highlanders 18-11 to take a 10-point lead into the fourth quarter. Madison continued its offensive barrage in the final period to extend its margin of victory.

Leading Madison's balanced scoring attack was freshman forward Kelly Koshuta, who scored 15 points. Also scoring double digits were the M&M duo: junior guards Megan LeDuc and Megan Henshaw, with 14-points each.  Henshaw continued her sharpshooting from the perimeter, while LeDuc did her damage from the charity stripe, making 9 of 10 free throws. Rounding out the scoring for Madison were senior guard Lindsay Joost with 7 points, sophomore guard Katie Kerrigan with 6 points and freshman guard Janna Tremba with 2 points.

The Highlanders were led by junior guard Shellie Kanuit with 13 points and junior forward Lisa Murphy with 9 points.

The Warhawks take the road again to face perennial power Oakton High School at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
