Tonight: Madison Girls Basketball Looks For District Crown

Squad seeks fourth Liberty District title in five years in matchup at South Lakes High School

Madison High School's girls basketball team may be young, but they have given opponents in the Liberty District a wild ride this season, posting a 20-4 record to land in the championship game tonight.

They hope to walk away with their fourth Liberty District title in five years. And the odds are in their favor: The Warhawks are on an eight-game winning streak and have defeated their championship opponents, South Lakes High School, twice in the regular season.

While the Warhawks may lack seniority, they are rich with experience. Juniors Megan LeDuc and Megan Henshaw are both three-year varsity veterans. Henshaw led the District this season in 3-pointers with 48, while averaging 15.6 points and 3 assists a game. LeDuc was the consummate floor general for the Warhawks, averaging 9.4 points, 6.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds.

They've also found a threat in 6'2" Kelly Koshuta, who has averaged 10.6 rebounds and a District-leading 19 points a game. She's blocked 28 shots.

But the Warhawks know tonight's matchup could be anyone's game: Last year, the team compiled a 5-2 record in January but fell four points short of a Liberty District final win. They were hoping to win their fourth Liberty District title in as many years.
