Vienna Shopping Center Donates $1K to Kilmer

Students turn around and match donation for local food banks, Alternative House.

Kilmer Middle School got a late holiday gift on Friday: A $1,000 donation from the Vienna Shopping Center through its holiday shopping center spree contest.

Vienna resident Kim Engman won the contest, which gave her a $500 shopping spree and also allowed her to name a school of her choice for a donation of twice that amount; she chose Kilmer, according to an announcement from the school.

But the giving didn't stop there: Principal Doug Tysons challenged his students to match the donation in three days.
