Walk/Bike Challenge Day Three: More Than 500 Walk Or Bike To School

More than 1,300 students counted so far in week-long program

Halfway through , more than 1,300 students had been counted walking or biking to school, according to numbers reported by parent volunteers today.

All schools had their highest total number of bikers and walkers yet.

Vienna Elementary School typically has 82 students in the VES designated walking area, . Of those, 44 walk or bike regularly. But this morning, that number was nearly tripled with 121 students walking or biking to school.

Cunningham Park Elementary School doubled the number of bikers it had participating from yesterday to today. And at Wolftrap Elementary School, Del. Mark Keam joined a walking train that boasted 183 students.
