Warhawk Softball Wins Spring Break Tournament

Madison defeats Centreville in championship

The Madison High School softball team claimed the championship trophy in their spring break tournament on Saturday afternoon by defeating the Centreville Wildcats 8-2.

The Warhawks had a hot day at the plate with 14 hits, including four extra-base hits.

Mary Bolinger led the offensive attack, going 3 for 4 with a double and 2 RBIs. Kelsey Ross (2 for 4, 2B), Jackie Yahner (2 for 4, RBI), Kat Olson (2 for 4, 2B, 2 RBIs, BB) and Tori Lipnicky (2 for 5, RBI) also had multiple hits on the day. Ally Grasso (1 for 3, RBI, 2 BBs), Brittany Powers (1 for 4, RBI), Elizabeth Fallas (1 for 4) and Kristyn Buscemi (2 BBs) also contributed at the plate.

Ross pitched a great game on the mound, giving up only four hits and a walk while striking out five Centreville batters. She had to battle back on two different occasions after being on the wrong end of sharp line drives up the middle.

The Warhawks have reached the middle part of their season with a record of 7-3 (3-1 District) and now get to enjoy their time off for spring break before resuming their season April 10 with a Liberty District game against the Langley Saxons.
