Who Won the Walk to School Challenge?

The results are in from a friendly, foot-powered competition between Reston and Vienna schools.

It was a close race, but Vienna elementary schools squeaked past Reston elementary schools in a friendly International Walk to School Day challenge.

According to Safe Routes to School,  1,677 Vienna students students walked or biked to school Wednesday. Reston had 1,614 arriving at school that way.

Eight schools from each community participated. Vienna Elementary School had the highest percentage of participants in Vienna with 68 percent of the school walking or bicycling. In Reston, Forest Edge had the highest percentage of participants with 48 percent of students participating.
