Madison And Marshall Lacrosse Win First Round Of Playoffs, Now Face Each Other

Cross-town rival girls teams advance to semifinals

The Madison girls lacrosse team defeated South Lakes by a score of 18-3 on Friday night in the first round of the Liberty district playoffs.  The Warhawks remain undefeated with a 12-0 overall record, and 8-0 in district play.

The Warhawks played sound lacrosse.  Megan Bisson and Katie Kerrigan scored three goals each. Alex Condon, Julia Kehoe, Alex Roop and Annie Tracz added two goals with Condon and Kehoe each contributing an assist. Sam Babbitt had two assists, and Allison Hahn contributed a goal and an assist. Savannah Bentley, Carly Frederick and Brie Hayden scored one goal a piece, and Dana Beden and Callie Headley each contributed an assist.  The Warhawks defense did not allow for many Seahawk scoring opportunities, and Taylor Rivera-Silva and Lindsey Beeman shared successful goal-tending duties for the evening.

Marshall High School Lacrosse also won its opening round against McLean High School on Friday night with a score of 17-5.

Madison and Marshall both move into the semi-final round of district action to play each other, at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Marshall High School.
