Madison Crew, Girls Lacrosse Notch Victories

Madison Crew had a strong showing in the Walter Mess Regatta on Saturday.

All varsity boats advanced to the finals, with Madison’s girls first and second eight taking first place and the girls lightweight four taking second.

The boys second eight  grabbed third, and the boys first 8 took fifth place.

On their first-ever outing, the girls novice boat and one of the novice boys boats also took first place, according to VASRA results. The last Madison boys team to race did not have official results because of the thunder.

The boats will race again this Saturday in the Darrell Winslow Regatta at  Sandy Run - Occoquan River.

Madison Girls Lacrosse Rolls Over Thomas Jefferson

extended its record to 3-0 with a win over Thomas Jefferson High School on Monday.  

Playing on TJ's turf, the Warhawks controlled the game from the start, scoring six quick goals before the Colonials finally hit one.  The score was 13-3 at the half.

Madison patiently worked their plays in the second half to secure the win. Senior co-captain Allison Hahn led the Warhawks with four goals.  Freshmen Katie Kerrigan and Madison Renshaw contributed 3 goals and 1 assist each.  Alex Condon and Megan Bisson scored two goals, while Carly Fredrick and Julia Kehoe each added a goal and an assist.  Brieanne Hayden led assists with three, with Dana Beden and Sami Babbitt each adding an assist.

The Warhawks host a tough Battlefield team  at 7:15 p.m. tonight.
