Video: Madison High School Football Finds 'One Heart' for Upcoming Season

Head coach, captains say team approach will set this team apart from years past.

"One heart."

That's the message that echoes throughout the Madison High School campus as the school's football team prepares for a new season.

The Warhawks must replace a number of talented seniors from their 2012 team that contended for a Liberty District title. But with its "one heart" mentality, playing as a team takes the pressure off implementing new players into the system.

"We're definitely a lot more dedicated to 'team' this year," captain Marcus Pearson said.

The goal for the new season is to win the district title, which will require a victory over Stone Bridge, the perennial dominating force in the district.

But it will all start with a week one showdown against Oakton, Madison's biggest rival. Oakton has owned the Warhawks in recent years, but this year's team captains think the 2013 squad has a better chance than in past years to bring bragging rights back to Vienna.
