The Madison High School girls basketball team continued to roll through regional playoffs Monday night, beating Robinson 47-37 on its home court in the first round of the AAA Northern Region Finals.
The win helps the Warhawks advance to the quarterfinals Tuesday night, where they'll face Edison at 7:30 p.m. — once again on Madison's home turf.
The Warhawks (18-8, 10-4 Liberty) relied on solid defense to hold Robinson (7-17, 1-9) scoreless in the first quarter.
But the Rams fought back in the second, outscoring the Warhawks 15-10 to enter halftime down just 20-15.
Madison ultimately controlled the scoring after the break, though, edging Robinsion for a final 10-point lead and 47-37 win.
Madison sophomore Jana Tremba had a huge night for the Warhawks, sinking a season-high 20 points — including five 3-pointers, a new personal single-game record — for the win. Seniors Megan Leduc and Jonee Finney added 10 and 8 points, respectively.
Robinson's Dhyamond Crenshaw led scoring for the Rams with 13 points.
Edison beat Woodson 56-29 on Monday night to advance to face the Warhawks in the quarterfinals. Tuesday night's game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Madison High School, 2500 James Madison Drive, Vienna.
