Virginia Swimming Results: Madison Boys Finish Second in State

Coming off of Northern Region win, Warhawks fall just short of Robinson on Saturday in the state title meet; Grayson Campbell wins boys' diving title.

Madison High School's boys swimming team capped off one of its best swimming seasons in recent memory Saturday with a second-place finish at the AAA Virginia State Swimming Championships, a performance that also included several impressive individual finishes.

The Warhawks (192.50) finished just behind Robinson High School (218.50), according to early scores available on reachforthewall.com. Madison edged the Rams for the Northern Region Title just weeks earlier.

The team, heavy on seniors, took its performance to a new level this year, after finishing third in the Northern Region and ninth in the state in 2012.

The boys team earned its fourth consecutive Liberty District Title in 2013 before going on to capture the Northern Region and finish second in the state.

Madison was taking 14 individuals or relay teams to states this year, across both the boys and girls team, Coach Andrew Foos told Patch earlier this month.

Among the individual highlights: Freshman Grayson Campbell, a contender for All-American status, winning the boys' diving title.

Patch will run full results Sunday or Monday as they become available.
