Warhawk Hockey Falls 5-3 in Season Closer

Madison moves on to NVSL Playoffs; two players make all-star team.

The Madison High School hockey team dropped its last game of the season Friday, losing 5-3 to Yorktown at the Kettler Arena in Arlington.

Like clockwork, Yorktown's Cameron Smith —  the league's leading scorer — found the net time and time again, the Warhawks watching on as they surrendered five goals. 

Madison wasn't without its own highlights, though:senior and team captain Justin Leas took a swing to clear the puck from the Warhawks' zone and scored, the shot clearing the entire length of the rink.

Seniors Aaron Shiohama and Ben Headley netted Madison's other two goals.

The loss moved Madison to 5-4-1 on the season — a record good enough to earn the team a No. 7 seed and move them onto the NVSL playoff series. Those games have yet to be scheduled.
