Vienna's Caffe Amouri Starts 'Coffee for Coats' Drive

Bring in a coat, get a free cup of joe.

With temperatures a "balmy" 40 degrees in Vienna on Tuesday, you may be lulled into thinking that this winter weather ain't so tough after all. But springtime isn't anytime soon and winter temperatures will likely soon dive back down to freezing.

The folks at Vienna's Caffe Amouri want to make sure no one out there is suffering when the weather turns bone-chilling cold again.

"There are so many folks right here in our community who will suffer....homeless, those less fortunate than us.....that's why we're going to run 'Coffee for Coats,' " says owner Michael Amouri.

The popular Vienna coffeehouse, located at 107 Church St. NE, will hold the coat drive starting today (Tuesday) for the next two weeks, until Tuesday, Jan. 28.

Patrons of the shop are asked to bring in a coat to donate and in return, Caffe Amouri will give them a free 16-ounce cup of coffee.

"We all have those 'I'm going to wear that...one day coat(s) in our closet," Amouri said. "Help someone stay warm, clear out your closet and get a free coffee. Does life get any better than that?"
