Spotlight: Historic Vienna

Historic Vienna operates a shop and museum in downtown Vienna.

Mission: According to the Historic Vienna website,

"Historic Vienna, Inc. (HVI), established by the Vienna Town Council on April 5, 1976, is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to:

  • Preserving and promoting Vienna’s heritage through the identification, preservation, and interpretation of historically significant places, events, and persons
  • Educating the public through permanent and revolving exhibits, outreach programs, special events and publications
  • Enhancing a spirit of community through an awareness of Vienna’s past."

Financials: The town contributes approximately $15,000 every year to Historic Vienna, in addition to maintaining the museum building. The nonprofit also counts membership dues and fundraising as revenue sources.

History: This organization was established by the Vienna Town Council in 1976.

How you can help: You can support Historic Vienna by becoming a member or volunteering as a storekeeper, docent/tour guide or an event assistant. Fill out an online form and let this nonprofit know how you want to help. The Historic Vienna store and museum will be closed for inventory and maintenance in January and February, but will be open on an appointment-only basis.
