Light Up Your Night. Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights officially starts Friday night! Visit Meadowlark’s Winter Walk of Lights from Friday through Jan. 5, to experience more than 500,000 LED lights and displays that bring Meadowlark Botanical Gardens to life. Imagine the beauty of Meadowlark's renowned gardens transformed into a winter wonderland, including a flowing stream of softly glowing lights. Marvel at the two story animated fountain, stroll past the Gingerbread Village, and explore the beauty of nature like you've never seen it. Ticket information is here.
Holiday Crafts. The City of Fairfax Parks & Recreation Department welcomes you to their 27th annual Holiday Craft Show, Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to 3pm at Fairfax High School, 3501 Rebel Run in Fairfax. Artisans from all over the United States, including many local artists, are participating in this year’s show to offer wonderful holiday gift choices. Take a rest during the show to enjoy a hot lunch. Admission: $5 per day or $8 for a two-day pass. No charge for children under 18 years.
Steven Spielberg Film Festival. In honor of Steven Spielberg, the Foundation for the National Archives’ 2013 Records of Achievement Award Recipient, the National Archives in DC is showing four of his feature films: Saving Private Ryan (November 15); E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (November 16); Amistad (November 16); and Lincoln (November 18).

Two Pieces. Catch an early show, or take your time on that tough commute. Andrew Belle + Leagues perform two shows Friday night. Jammin' w/ The Smithsonian: Rolie Polie Guacamole. All ages (family-friendly event). 10:30 a.m. Saturday also at Jammin' Java (see address above). Rolie Polie Guacamole is a hip "kindie" band. Their high-energy, interactive shows are a mix of funk, rock and folk music mashed into original tunes about natural living, eating healthy and staying active. Advanced tickets recommended.The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Kids ages 4+. 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday. When four children stumble upon an old wardrobe, little do they know they will enter the magical world of Narnia. Voices on the Stage. The audience at the Workhouse this weekend will get a special preview of the latest work from playwright God’s Boo. Thankful Little Engine. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and Lake Fairfax Park is offering an early dose of family fun. All Over the Map. Music students and enthusiasts are going to get quite the lesson this weekend. World Blues at George Mason University features music legend Taj Mahal, performing soulful tunes from across the globe with some friends. From $23. 8 p.m. Friday.
