Weekend: Go See 'This' by the Vienna Theatre Company

What are your plans this weekend?

Theater buffs, listen up: The Vienna Theatre Company will debut its production of "This," on Friday at the Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St. SE in Vienna.

The comedy/drama by Melissa James Gibson, with original music by Peter Eldridge saw its world premiere in 2009, at Playwrights Horizons, Inc., New York City.

"This" was commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, with funds provided by The Leading National Theatres Program, a joint initiative of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

"This" is presented by special arrangements with Dramatists Play Service, Inc. New York, N.Y. Here's a synopsis courtesy of The Vienna Theatre Company:

"Jane is not okay. She's a promising poet without a muse, a single mother without lessons to pass along.  Her dating life's a shambles and her helpful friends are only helping to make things more complicated.  This bright, witty, un-romantic comedy captures the uncertain steps of a circle of friends backing their way into middle age."
