Drop off your expired, used, or unwanted prescription drugs in Vienna.
Saturday is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and several Fairfax County locations — including the Vienna Police Station— will serve as drop-off points. The event is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Vienna Police Headquarters on Center Street is one of the locations across the state to accept used prescription drugs. Use the DEA’s search tool to find other close drop-off points. The event is meant to help residents dispose of potentially dangerous expired, unused, or unwanted prescription drugs, according to the DEA. Since 2010, law enforcement officials and the DEA have taken in more than 2 million pounds of expired prescription drugs, according to a press release from the administration. Fairfax County Police said man called bomb threat in by telephone.
Fairfax County Police charged a Herndon man with making a bomb threat following an alleged shoplifting in Merrifield. The man is being held at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center with no bond. Police were called to the 2900 block of District Avenue around 9 p.m. Sunday for a report of two men shoplifting. One of the men, a 29-year-old Herndon man, was detained by security and charged with grand larceny. According to a press release, the second alleged suspect, a 30-year-old Herndon man, was able to make it outside and allegedly called in a bomb threat to the business. There were no other details available about the incident at press time.

Vienna Police Department is investigating the April 12 report from a walker.
A woman told Vienna Police a man attempted to grope her while she was walking in northeast Vienna last week. The report comes just more than three weeks after a groping was reported on the W&OD Trail in Vienna.That case involved two men on a bicycle. It was not clear at press time whether the two incidents were related. The woman told police she was walking around 10:30 a.m. April 12 near Druid Hill Road and Beulah Road NE when she heard what sounded like a jogger coming up behind her. She moved to the side so the jogger could pass, but instead a man grabbed her and attempted to grope her, according to a Vienna Police report. The boy was found in a hotel in Las Vegas with his mother, who has been arrested and is being held as a fugitive from justice.
Fairfax County Police announced Wednesday that Cameron Serafin, the Fairfax County boy who has been missing since April 7, has been found safe and his mother Rebecca has been arrested. Investigators had been looking for Rebecca Serafin and her 5-year-old son since she did not return the boy to his father's home in Great Falls as scheduled. “Following information they developed after viewing the video, LVPD [Las Vegas Police Department] detectives located Cameron and Rebecca Serafin at another hotel close by,” according to the Fairfax County Police Department release. “Cameron is safe and in good condition. Students from Madison and Langley High Schools clashed last week but the motive is unclear, police say.
A student and his father declined to pursue charges last week after an apparent fist fight between Madison and Langley high school students at the Chipotle in Vienna. Police received a call from a resident around 6:13 p.m. April 5 reporting there appeared to be a fist fight happening behind the Chipotle, at 213 Maple Ave SE, and a crowd of onlookers was gathering. When police officers arrived on the scene, the fight broke up and the crowd, along with the students allegedly involved in the fight, disappeared. Officers were able to track down some people from the crowd, who said the fight was between students from Madison and Langley, Vienna Police Department spokesman Officer Gary Lose said. The Boston Police Department is reporting that there are two dead and at least 23 people injured in bombings near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
Washington first responders are on heightened alert after explosions killed and injured several people near the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon. The marathon was stopped immediately as police and emergency workers responded to the scene. Just after 3 p.m. Monday two explosions occurred within seconds of one another on the sidelines of the Boston Marathon near the finish line, according to reports from several media organizations. The Boston Globe is reporting there are more than 100 people injured in the explosions and the Boston Police Twitter accounted reported that two people are dead, reports Back Bay Patch. Police have issued a felony warrant for Rebecca Serafin, who allegedly fled the state with her son.
Fairfax County police said they have confirmed a sighting of Rebecca and Cameron Serafin at an airport in Birmingham, Ala. Investigators have been looking for the Fairfax County mother and her 5-year-old son since last week, when Rebecca Serafin did not return the boy to his father's home as scheduled. The boy's photo was disseminated throughout the greater Washington area. As a result of the confirmed sighting in Alabama, which happened Friday, police have obatined a warrant charging Rebecca Serafin with felony parental abduction, accoring to a news release.
