Warhawks Get First Win Of The Season Against Rival Oakton

Madison's sea of red overwhelms Oakton Cougars in 62-44 win

With a sea of red Warhawk faithful packed into the bleachers,  Madison's boys basketball team won its first game of the season Friday against rival Oakton, defeating the Cougars 62-44 on Oakton's home turf. From the sea of red in the bleachers came chants of "I believe that we just won" and "this is our house," a roar that dominated the gymnasium as much as the game itself.  "The environment, the guys, that's why I coach," Madison Head Coach Chris Kuhblank said. "[The fans] are supporting us. This was our first win and they are still traveling with us." After a low-scoring first quarter, Oakton led by one with a 8-7 score.
