Police Make Arrests in Serial Burglaries

Three people charged for allegedly taking jewelery, electronics from homes across McLean, Vienna, Falls Church.

Fairfax County police have arrested three people in connection with a series of burglaries that hit homes across three jurisdictions this month — and more charges could be coming, police said Wednesday. Craig Hopta, 29, Michael Lewis, 29 and Diana Seaborn, 34, all of Maryland, were arrested this week and charged with four counts of burglary, two counts of grand larceny, two counts of larceny for resale, and possession of burglarious tools. The suspects are connected to a string of burglaries in McLean, Vienna and Falls Church, police said. Aside from the 10 burglaries that occurred in six hours May 4 in McLean, police have not commented on how many homes in total were involved in the spree. Missing 5-Year-Old Cameron Serafin Found Safe; Mother Rebecca Arrested

The boy was found in a hotel in Las Vegas with his mother, who has been arrested and is being held as a fugitive from justice.

Fairfax County Police announced Wednesday that Cameron Serafin, the Fairfax County boy who has been missing since April 7, has been found safe and his mother Rebecca has been arrested. Investigators had been looking for Rebecca Serafin and her 5-year-old son since she did not return the boy to his father's home in Great Falls as scheduled.   “Following information they developed after viewing the video, LVPD [Las Vegas Police Department] detectives located Cameron and Rebecca Serafin at another hotel close by,” according to the Fairfax County Police Department release. “Cameron is safe and in good condition. Police: Missing 5-Year-Old Boy Seen in Alabama

Police have issued a felony warrant for Rebecca Serafin, who allegedly fled the state with her son.

Fairfax County police said they have confirmed a sighting of Rebecca and Cameron Serafin at an airport in Birmingham, Ala. Investigators have been looking for the Fairfax County mother and her 5-year-old son since last week, when Rebecca Serafin did not return the boy to his father's home as scheduled. The boy's photo was disseminated throughout the greater Washington area. As a result of the confirmed sighting in Alabama, which happened Friday, police have obatined a warrant charging Rebecca Serafin with felony parental abduction, accoring to a news release. Fairfax Police Search for Missing Vienna Teen

Anna Pilger, an 18-year-old Madison High School student, is without her medication and police are concerned for her welfare, they say.

This article has been updated. The Fairfax County Police Department is looking for an 18-year-old woman who disappeared during a Tuesday appointment in Falls Church. A release from the department on Thursday asks the public's help in finding Anna Pilger, of Vienna, who was apparently at an appointment around 1 p.m. Tuesday in the 2900 block of Sleepy Hollow Road in Falls Church when she fled. She disappeared into the woods near Castle and Nicholson roads, police said. Fairfax Police Searching for Missing 5-Year-Old Boy

Cameron Serafin, 5, was supposed to be returned to his father on Sunday; authorities have issued a warrant for his mother.

Five-year-old Cameron Serafin was supposed to return Sunday to his father in Great Falls. But he never came home, say Fairfax County police, who asked for the public's help Thursday in finding the missing child. According to police, Cameron is believed to be with his mother, Rebecca Serafin, 32. Serafin was supposed to return the child to his father on Sunday. A warrant has been issued for Serafin’s arrest on charges of custodial interference, a misdemeanor, police said. Detectives say they have reason to be concerned about the boy's welfare. Fairfax County Police Step Up Pedestrian Enforcement

Following two fatal accidents in the past month, one of them in Vienna, department kicks off springtime enforcement and education initiatives.

In the wake of an accident that left a 54-year-old Falls Church man dead Thursday night — and another last month that killed a woman near the Dunn Loring Metro in Vienna — Fairfax County police are stepping up their pedestrian safety enforcement. Fairfax County police are still investigating last week's accident. What they do know: Around 10:50 p.m. Thursday, a vehicle hit Herman Bartlett as he walked across the street in the 5800 block of Leesburg Pike. Lucy Caldwell, a police spokeswoman said Bartlett was rushed to Inova Fairfax Hospital where he was pronounced dead. FCPD's First 5k Walk to Raise Awareness for Crime Victims

Event at Fairfax Corner honors 2013 National Crime Victims' Rights Week.

The Fairfax County Police Department's Victims Services Unit will host its first-ever 5k walk to raise awareness about crime victims in the county, and to honor 2013 National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, the FCPD announced recently.  The free event is hosted by the Victims Services Section of the Fairfax County Police Department and the Fairfax County Law Enforcement Foundation. It kicks off Sunday, April 21 at 4:30 p.m. at Fairfax Corner. Police invite the public to join the "caring professionals that support local victims of homicide, trauma, sexual and domestic violence, child physical and sexual abuse, stalking human trafficking and suicide as they walk together." Police Video: Woman Robbed at Gunpoint in Tysons ATM

The Fairfax County Police Department released video footage of a Sunday robbery.

Fairfax County police are trying to identify a man who reportedly had a shotgun and robbed a woman at a Tysons Corner ATM on Sunday. Police have released video that shows a woman in an after-hours ATM lobby located at the 8300 block of Greensboro Drive at roughly 8:45 p.m. A masked gunman weilding a shotgun appears to enter the lobby shortly afterwards, according to police. The 37-year-old woman told police the suspect approached her and demanded money. The video shows the woman getting down on the floor while the gunman leaves with her purse, according to police.
