Madison Hockey Falls to Oakton

Warhawks drop to 1-2-2 record overall on the year

The James Madison Warhawks suffered a tough loss at the hands of their cross town rivals the Oakton Cougars, losing 8-3 in front of an Oakton-heavy crowd at the SkateQuest Arena in Reston. The Cougars shot a whopping 50 shots on goal compared to Madison's 20, including two quick goals in the first period to open up a 2-0 lead. Madison fought back in the second period with two goals from sophomores Aaron Shiohama and goalie Jacob Hall. Both were first-ever goals for the sophomores  in Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League play. "It was a very good game, a clean game," Warhawks Head Coach Edward Cass said after the game. Both teams combined for a total of nine penalties-- five for Oakton and four for Madison. Oakton capitalized on them…
