Virginia Lacrosse: Madison Boys Top Langley for Liberty District TItle

Girls game postponed until 6 p.m. Saturday after lightning delays the 2013 Girls Lacrosse Liberty District Championship.

On Friday night, the Madison High School boys lacrosse team did something it hadn't done in years: post a win against  the Langley Saxons. The Warhawks defeated Langley 10-2 on the Saxons' home turf on Friday night, taking the Liberty District Championship and entering next week's tournament as a top seed. Madison and Langley — five-time district champs — both stood at 11-5 (6-1) entering last night's title game, tied with Stone Bridge (11-3, 6-1) for best record in the district. The Warhawks got off to a fast start, according to early game information from dmvlacrosse. Madison led 5-0 after the first quarter. Parents: New FCPS Leader Should Maximize Limited Budget, Show Respect

Tuesday forum in McLean was second in series of community meetings this week about replacing retiring Fairfax County Public Schools Superintendent Jack Dale.

Parents at a community meeting Tuesday designed to gather input about Fairfax County's next superintendent say the new leader will step into an excellent school system, but also one with dwindling resources and an achievement gap it is struggling to close — challenges they said would be best navigated by someone who could maximize a limited budget and respect and listen to the community. Supports high achievers? Quite a few have been left spinning their wheels ever since NCLB got implemented. There are some who come into elementary school liking math and then do little to nothing other than what they've already done for the next few years, while the school gets everyone to the same place.
