Cava Mezze Grill Now Open in Mosaic District

Store offers Greek-inspired dishes with a new age twist.

Cava Mezze Grill opened its Mosaic District location (2905 District Ave.) Wednesday. Co-owner Brett Schulman said he and his business partners liked the explosion of local restaurants that are coming to the Mosaic District — a new shopping and entertainment center off Gallows Road near Merrifield— and they wanted to be a part of it. After founding the full-service Cava restaurant in Rockville, Md. in 2006, Schulman said the group decided to diversify the business and sell their dips and spreads in grocery stores and open smaller, fast service restaurants. “The grill idea was to take some of what we do in the restaurant and what we sell in the stores and put them into a fast paced grill,” Schulman said. “You can get a restaurant quality …

The deli offers breakfast lunch and dinner. In addition to the classic cheese steak, the deli offers up some of Philadelphia’s other famed sandwiches. “I couldn’t get a good hoagie,” Patten said. “When I would go into a sandwich shop and ask for a hoagie, people would look at…
