The first request by a man accused of illegally entering a home on Ware Street in Vienna: A beer. A man called Vienna police around 9:20 p.m. March 26, reporting a stranger had entered his home on Ware Street through an unlocked front door. The stranger, who appeared intoxicated, was allegedly demanding he be given a beer. Daniel Andrew Wilson, 48, of Vienna, was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he was charged with drunk in public and unlawful entry.Wilson was held on a $1,000.00 bond. Abduction claims were unfounded, Vienna police say.
A teen reportedly making prank phone calls about being abducted was not in fact the victim of a crime, a Vienna Police report said this week. The incident began around 1:02 p.m. March 8, according to a Vienna Police report, when a woman on Orchard Street NW reported getting several phone calls from a caller who told her he or she had been abducted. Vienna police responded to investigate. They traced the calls to a teen, who admitted the calls were a prank. Police "counseled the juvenile on the seriousness of the prank," the report says. Possible robbery suspect spotted outside of the Bank of America on Maple Ave, and other highlights from the Feb. 15 report from VPD.
An employee was allegedly threatened last week by a student at the Cedar Lane School. The employee at the Cedar Lane School, 101 Cedar Lane SE, reported at 2:23 p.m. Feb. 8 a student had threatened her. The student left the area before police could get to the scene. School personnel will handle the case. -- An employee of the Bank of America, 235 Maple Avenue W, reported when she arrived at work at 8:25 a.m. Feb. 11 she noticed a woman standing outside the bank, who appeared to be same woman involved in another robbery at a different Bank of America location. A man was issued a summons last week for allegedly selling Christmas trees without the proper permit. A citizen reported between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. an individual was selling Christmas trees without the required town permit at the BP Gas Station on Maple Avenue East. Police responded and spoke with the man selling the trees, who said he had permission for the sale from the owner of the gas station and the town's planning and zoning department. Police contacted the planning and zoning department and were told the man hadn't gotten the proper permit. Edward Justin Stalcup, 55, of Vienna, was issued a summons for soliciting without a license, and relased after signing it. -- A citizen reported while she was standing at a bus stop at 4:45 p.m. …

Vienna Police are looking for a man who allegedly exposed himself to a driver of a car traveling in front of his own vehicle. A resident reported between 6 a.m. and 7 a.m. Nov. 23 while driving near Old Courthouse Road and Fairway Drive NE, she saw a man pull up behind her car in a black Honda who "appeared to be exposing himself." After getting her attention he began to yell obscenities at her, the resident said. The woman gave police the vehicle's license plate number. Police are investigating the case. A man showed his knife during a confrontation in a Vienna parking lot Nov. 17. A citizen reported he approached the driver of another vehicle to tell him he was driving the wrong way in a parking lot on the 100 block of Maple Avenue West around 1:44 p.m. Nov. 17, according to the report filed with the Vienna Police Department. The driver of the vehicle became confrontational with the citizen and began cursing at him. The citizen asked the driver to stop cursing at him, and the driver pulled out a small folding knife, police said. The driver did not threaten the citizen. The father of the driver came out of a nearby store and stated he would calm his son down. The driver and his father left the area prior to the arrival of the police. …

A Rexall Drug Store employee stopped a woman attempting to shoplift, detaining her until Vienna Police could respond. The employee reported a female entered the store, at 150 Maple Avenue SW, and absconded with a shopping bag containing groceries around 4:40 p.m. Nov. 8. The employee approached the woman and told her she would need to pay for the groceries, according to the police report. At that time, the woman fled the store with the employee in close pursuit. After a brief chase the employee was able to stop and hold the woman until police arrived. While detaining the woman, the employee was kicked several times, according to the report. A few days after Halloween, one Vienna residence was still dealing with the holiday's decorations. A resident on the 100 block of Patrick Street SE found someone had placed a skeleton on his front porch between 6:15 and 9:05 p.m. Nov. 3. The skeleton appeared to be a Halloween decoration, but there was no information attached to identify its origins. The resident requested the responding officer provide the skeleton with a proper burial. During a traffic stop on the 200 block of Maple Avenue West around 1 a.m. Oct. 29, an officer detected signs the driver was possibly impaired. After failing to complete several field sobriety tests, James Patrick O'Donnell III, 27, of Scarab Street in Vienna, was arrested for driving while intoxicated. O'Donnell was transported to the Vienna Police Station for a breath analysis. Upon the completion of the test, O'Donnell was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with driving while intoxicated. O'Donnell III was to be released when he was sober. This was the citizen's original (and as far as I know, only) comment on Patch: Why did they set up selling Christmas trees on the BP gas station lot directly across from the Lions? The Lions are a highly regarded service organization who have been selling Christmas trees in Vienna for many years, and depend on the Christmas tree sales to fund their charities all year.
