Warhawks hope to sweep Friday double header at Langley.

On Friday, the teams are set up for a repeat of last year's title game, as the Warhawks and Saxons face off at Langley High School in McLean. And the Warhawks are hoping they'll come away with another win. Like in 2012, both Madison and Langley (10-3) have had stellar 2013 seasons. Madison (13-2) — the 2011 Virginia state champions — comes into Friday's game undefeated in the district, its only two losses coming from scrimmages earlier this season. Over the past few years, the team, under head coach Amanda Counts, has become one of the area's best programs — largely …

To honor the men and women fighting fires in Vienna with the truck, the school's baseball team posed with the engine for the cover photo to their media guide (see picture at right). Like the engine, which residents have reported blazing through the streets, the Warhawks have gotten off to a roaring start in the 2013 season. Resident Nancy Socher reports the varsity team is 14-1 — rebounding from a season-opening loss to 14 have straight victories, "including winning the Mingo Bay Classic Tournament in Myrtle Beach, SC over spring break," she wrote…

Crew: Madison First Eight Emerges as Force

More success for Warhawk crew.

It was another banner day for Madison Crew at Saturday’s  Darrell Winslow Regatta,  with four first place finishes, three second places and  two third place finishes. The men’s team is enjoying what is perhaps their best season ever.  While the women’s team has been earning headlines with their dominant performance over the last several years, the men’s team this year has emerged as force with which to be reckoned.  Through its first four regattas, the men’s first eight (1 V) is undefeated by another Virginia school.  Its only loss has been to regional powerhouse St. Albans (DC) which bested the Madison men by only two seconds earlier this season.    At last weekend’s Darrell Winslow Regatta, the Madison men’s 1 V took first place with a …
