Third break in five days closed street at John Marshall Drive NE
Update 5:47 p.m.: Vienna Police Officer Gary Lose said the street is now reopen. Original 1:37 p.m. Town of Vienna crews are on site at a water main break on Glyndon Street NE, the third residents have seen across town since the Fourth of July. The intersection of the street with John Marshall Drive NE is closed while crews repair the roads, according to a town alert. The break is the third since Wednesday, when a water main break shut down nearby Hill Top Road NE and left residents without water on the first of several consecutive days across the region with temperatures at or near 100. The second was reported on Saturday, when Kingsley Road between Nutley Street and Meadow Lane was closed for several hours as crews made repairs. One …

Incident left some residents without water on one of the hottest days of the year
Update 3 p.m.: The water main break is now repaired and water service has been restored, according to a Town of Vienna alert. Town crews are making temporary repairs to the road; permanent repairs will be made at a later date, the alert said. Update 10:39 a.m.: Resident Joan Walsh said around 10:30 that her water had returned, but it was brown. She said it appeared that not all homes in the area were affected by the break: Her neighbors on Ware Street never lost water, she said. Water returns to Northeast Vienna neighborhood
Update 4:03 p.m.: The road is now reopened. Update 2:13 p.m.: MrAntonioLuisB said on Twitter around 1:53 p.m. that water had been restored to the area. Original: Water Main Break Closes Hill Top Road: Hill Top Road NE will be closed for much of Wednesday as town crews repair a water main break on the road. The road will be closed for about 10 hours at its intersection with Park Street, Vienna Police Officer Gary Lose said. It's not clear what caused the break.
