'Blond Bandit' Sentenced to 11 Years in Prison

Stephanie Lynn Schwab, whose crime spree included carjacking a woman in Tysons in November, must also pay thousands in restitution

Stephanie Lynn Schwab, known across the area as the "Blond Bandit," was sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday for a series of crimes in Virginia. Schwab's sentence — which amounts to 132 months in prison— is "for carrying out three bank robberies, stealing and carjacking three cars she used in those robberies, and participating in a heroin distribution ring operating out of Manassas," said the Eastern District United States Attorney’s Office public information officer Peter Carr. Schwab's crime spree included the carjacking of a local woman at the Tysons Galleria Following her release from prison, she will also have four years of supervised release and will have to pay more than $24,000 in restitution, Carr said. I agree. Eleven years for 3 bank robberies, multiple car jackings, plus heroine distribution. Plus since this is a federal sentence she is eligible for parole unlike VA which doesn't have parole.   more ›

'Blond Bandit' Pleads Guilty

Stephanie Schwab changed her plea in federal district court on Thursday.

Stephanie Schwab, dubbed the 'Blond Bandit' after her alleged crime spree last November, pleaded guilty Thursday to some of the felony charges against her, changing the not guilty pleas she entered two months ago. In pleading guilty, Schwab will accept a plea agreement from the U.S. Attorney's Office to drop some of the charges associated with the case. In accepting the plea agreement, Schwab waives her right to a jury trial. Sentencing has been scheduled for July 6. Initially, Schwab was indicted on six charges related to a 13-day crime spree throughout Northern Virginia and Maryland: two counts of bank robbery, one count of attempted bank robbery and three counts of transporting stolen vehicles across state lines. She should not be given a PLEA deal to wipeout one of the attempted bank robbery charges to get info on people involved in ther heroin ring--that wont change anything.....the police have to do a better job themselves in busting the heroin ring--stephanie will be in jail for 70 years and no chance of getting out while she is alive---she brought this on herself--and ratting on the herion ring will …   more ›
