Tysons denim enthusiasts only have to wait a little bit longer – Joe’s Jeans is slated to open at the Tysons Galleria in early April. Originally set to open in the middle of March, the Los Angeles-based clothing company will actually open its doors in the coming weeks, according to the Washingtonian. In its original post Friday, the Washingtonian reported the high-end denim specialists were going to be ready for business this past weekend. But it seems the date has been pushed back. When Patch spoke to the Galleria’s managing office at the beginning of March, representatives said the store was tentatively scheduled to open in mid-March but could be opening later. Owned by Danielle Poux of McLean, who is also head chef, the dessert shop at Tysons Galleria offers mouth-watering cakes, pies, cupcakes and cookies. A swath of new stores is coming to the Tysons Galleria in the next month or so, with some open as early as mid-March, management says. Three new stores will be added to the mall’s already impressive, upscale directory: Joe’s Jeans This Los Angeles-based clothing company makes apparel for men, women and kids. As the name would suggest, they specialize in demin. Management said the tentative opening date is mid-March, but could be later. J. Crew Men’s Shop Opening just a few doors down from the mall's current J. Crew location, this new store will feature a wider selection of men's clothing, including shirts, pants, shoes and suits. French bakery now serving macaroons and other treats.
A little bit of Paris has come to McLean. On Sunday, French Bakery Paul opened its fifth Washington-area location - and first in Virginia - Sunday at the Tysons Galleria. Paul specializes in crusty French bread, pastries and gourmet sandwiches. But the real gems are the bakery's French macaroons. To see Paul's full menu, click here. The 2,600-square-foot location is just inside one of the main Galleria entrances, where Daily Grill used to be. In the spring, the store plans to have outdoor seating. Luxury New York department store set to open an outpost in Tysons Galleria.
Just in time to cater to those frantic holiday shoppers, Tysons Galleria will be adding one more high-end retailer to the mix. Henri Bendel, a luxury New York-based department store known for its iconic brown and white striped packaging, will throw open its doors in Virginia on Nov. 8, a spokeswoman for the company confirmed. The space will be 2,400 square feet. Henri Bendel's flagship store is located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, close to Central Park. The company's history dates back to the late 19th century, according to its website. The store is also currently hiring part-time sales associates.

Power outages on Thursday, Friday morning caused by underground equipment failure
Two separate power outages in Tysons Corner darkened local businesses on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, Dominion Power Virginia confirms. The power outage at Tysons Galleria on Thursday afternoon affected 33 customers, mainly restaurants. "We found underground equipment that had failed," Dominion spokeswoman Le-Ha Anderson said. "Restoration was delayed slightly because we could not access the equipment due to a fence that had been build around it. By midnight, we were able to restore power to all customers." In a separate incident at 8 a.m. Friday, a power outage on Leesburg Pike affected customers in the Westwood building. Stephanie Lynn Schwab, whose crime spree included carjacking a woman in Tysons in November, must also pay thousands in restitution
Stephanie Lynn Schwab, known across the area as the "Blond Bandit," was sentenced to 11 years in prison Thursday for a series of crimes in Virginia. Schwab's sentence — which amounts to 132 months in prison— is "for carrying out three bank robberies, stealing and carjacking three cars she used in those robberies, and participating in a heroin distribution ring operating out of Manassas," said the Eastern District United States Attorney’s Office public information officer Peter Carr. Schwab's crime spree included the carjacking of a local woman at the Tysons Galleria Following her release from prison, she will also have four years of supervised release and will have to pay more than $24,000 in restitution, Carr said.
