Would you like to post events, announcements and blogs to Patch? Keep this article handy each time there is something you'd like to share with our community. To post events to the site for free: navigate to the events page and click “Add an Event” on the right side of the page. Tell us all the details about your upcoming event, then click “post my event” at the bottom of the page. That puts the event directly on our calendar. The end result is exactly the same as if a Patch staffer had posted it for you. The only difference is, when you post it, it goes up right away. If you send it to us, you might have to wait until we're done reporting on local meetings, photographing an event, meeting with community members, or something else that we …

Vienna Patch can help you connect with your neighbors.
While many of us are busy scheming up resolutions to lose weight, be healthier and spend more time with family - why not make a civic-minded resolution in 2013 to be a more engaged Vienna Patch citizen? Vienna Patch is here to help to help you connect with your neighbors. If you send it to us, you might have to wait until we're …

Editor Nicole Trifone leaves, former editor Erica R. Hendry returns (for now)
It seems like just yesterday I was writing my own goodbyes ("Bye for Now, Vienna Patch"). This week, Oakton and Vienna Editor Nicole Trifone also announced she was leaving to pursue another job in journalism (you can read her full "Farewell to Oakton" here). "My time with Patch ... has been incredible. I've learned so much about journalism and its importance in communities often ignored," Trifone wrote in the note. We wish her the best and will miss her as a good neighbor and friend for the past two years. What does this mean for Vienna's little corner of the Patch world? I'm back -- partially, for now. I'll be steering the site until we find a longterm editor for Vienna. With me will be some friendly faces you might recognize from …

One editor leaves, another takes the helm of Vienna Patch
Starting today, you'll see a new face at the top of your screen each morning. Just more than two years after the day in 2010 that I arrived in Vienna to launch Vienna Patch, I'm leaving my role as editor and handing over the reins to someone else. Starting Monday, Nicole Trifone, Oakton Patch's editor, will be taking over the Vienna site. We've been great neighbors since 2010 (you may have seen her around Vienna at the baseball diamonds or at the many floods along Lawyers and Hunter Mill Roads) and I can't imagine anyone better to take on the site and move it forward. I'm not going far: For the past month, I've been transitioning to the role of Associate Regional Editor, overseeing eight of Patch's sites (soon to be nine as we plan to add…

No, you're not losing it: Patch looks different today. We did a quick visual makeover to the homepage to make it more user-friendly. And we've moved a couple pieces of furniture. For those keeping score: • We tweaked some words in our navigation bar to save space (e.g., "Traffic & Gas" is now "Commute," "Places" is now "Directory") • We moved the weather icon next to the Patch branding so you can find it more quickly • We moved, well, YOU closer to the top. (Our "shout stream" is now front and center so you can see what people are commenting on and talking about.) • And of course we made a few things more visually appealing. While the site might look a little different today, we still offer the same coverage of everything happening in …
