Semi-retired from years of working in international health, I enjoy taking to the W&OD Trail with my bike or my dog, am a big fan of the Fairfax County Library, and am one of hundreds of regular volunteers at Food for Others. In the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011, Food for Others distributed over 2.7 million pounds of free food to families in need in Northern Virginia. This occasional blog will chat about the people I meet at Food for Others -- the clients, the donors, the staff -- and the issue of hunger in our community.
