On the article Residents Want More Bus Service, But How and Where Remain the Question
Phil Ingrassia

ReplyAs a resident of the area, I am not opposed to buses on Old Courthouse Road, but I hope the plan is tested, with stops at places don't impact traffic flow, and adjusted as necessary. I was glad to read this:
The route would have to use smaller, 30-foot buses that hold 29 people, Wegener said, to move forward as proposed; the larger Connector buses wouldn’t be able to make some of the turns near Old Courthouse Road.

That's a great idea. It's unfortunate that the Glyndon field is in such poor shape. The upgrade to the fencing and dugouts from a few years ago is good, but the field itself needs some TLC.

ReplyWhile I understand that some of the supervisors must think this is somewhat of a "cart before the horse" motion, it gives clear guidance to Transportation Committee that the elected leaders are engaged with the nearby community. Overall, residents have been relatively supportive of all the development in and around Tysons, but an option for a ramp that would pave over green space, and is absolutely counter to the county's own comprhensive plan never should have been on the table.

ReplyAs a cyclist- I avoid Maple Ave. Getting angry about a car getting too close during rush hour is raging against the machine.

ReplyThanks for following this important story Erica. There are other options and the country really needs to honor its committment to keep the little green space that is left to buffer these Vienna neighborhoods from Tysons.

Good one! Freedom Hill Park hides in plain sight just off Old Courthouse. It's a nice secluded park near Tysons. Great place for private picnic.
