Former President Bill Clinton to Campaign for Terry McAuliffe Monday in Herndon

Eight days before Election Day, former President Bill Clinton is coming to Herndon to campaign for Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate in the Virginia governor's race.

McAuliffe is running against Republican Ken Cuccinelli, attorney general of Virginia, and Libertarian Robert Sarvis. McAuliffe and Cuccinelli will debate Thursday night in Blacksburg. The latest poll, out Wednesday, puts McAuliffe up by 7 points, according to Politico.

The stop on Monday afternoon is one of many the 42nd president and McAuliffe will make as they barnstorm across the commonwealth in a four-day blitz before Nov. 5, with the theme: "Putting Jobs First." Clinton will be campaigning Sunday through Wednesday in Virginia for his longtime friend.

McAuliffe has worked in national campaigns and fundraising with Clinton over the years at the Democratic National Committee and on the presidential campaigns for both Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton. Hillary Clinton stopped by Falls Church to campaign for McAuliffe on Saturday. 

Free tickets to the rally are available to the public on a first-come, first-served basis now (Wednesday) at the Democratic Party of Virginia Office, 384 Elden St. in Herndon, according to a news release from the McAuliffe campaign.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. at Herndon Middle School, 901 Locust St. in Herndon. The rally is set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are required but do not guarantee admission, organizers say.
